Berger Cookies were originated in Germany and then was brought to America in the 1800’s; and it later became famous in the Baltimore area. They are now made and distributed by DeBaufre bakeries. These cookies are made moist like a wafer that is topped with a cream or fudge. If you have never tried this cookie before, use these instructions to make some Berger Cookies.

- Mixing bowl and electric mixer
- Large bowl
- Spoon
- Strainer
- Parchment paper
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of softened butter
- ½ cup of confectioners’ sugar
- ¾ cup of granulated sugar
- 2½ cups of flour
- 3 cups of chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- Parchment paper
Directions
- Turn the oven on to 350 degrees and allow the oven to preheat.
- Put the butter, salt, confectioners’ sugar and ½ cup of the granulated sugar into the mixing bowl and cream them out with the electric mixer until everything is incorporated.
- While still using the mixer, gradually add the egg and the vanilla, the batter should now be light and fluffy.
- Use the strainer and sift the flour, the baking soda in the large sized bowl and mix them out together.
- Add the dry mixture to the creamed ingredients in the mixing bowl.
- Use the butter to grease the cookie sheet or use parchment paper to line up the cookie sheet.
- Use the spoon and place the batter onto the cookie sheet and place it into the oven and let the cookie bake for about 15 minutes.
- When the cookie is done baked, take it out and allow it to cool.
