Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups quick cooking oats
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl cream shortening or butter, then add sugars and cream mixture until very light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and mix thoroughly.
  3. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture: baking soda, salt and flour.
  4. Mix in the oatmeal until well blended.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and blend until completely dispersed.
  6. Use round tablespoon to drop dough batter onto greased cookie sheet.
  7. Space at least 1” apart
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown and remove from oven.
  9. Allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes before moving to wired rack.
