Chocolate Cookie Recipe

  • Measuring cup


  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup nuts (optional)
  • Icing (optional)


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine dry ingredients: flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl combine chocolate and butter and microwave for 1 minute, stir mixture, and microwave for another 20 seconds. Continue until mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  4. Combine sugar and egg to chocolate mixture.
  5. Combine half of the flour mixture with the chocolate mixture, stir thoroughly.
  6. Add milk, vanilla and the other half of dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add finely chopped nuts and fold in with spoon.
  7. Use a teaspoon to drop dough onto greased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to completely cool before applying icing.
