Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe

Snickerdoodle cookies also known as Cinnamon Sugar cookies are incredibly soft and tasty with that hint of cinnamon that fills your nostrils and taste buds with pure nostalgia.

  • Cookie sheet
  • Measuring cup
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • Rounded tablespoon
  • Plastic wrap
  • Wire rack


  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl beat butter until creamy then add, sugar, eggs and vanilla.  Combine into a smooth mixture.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt; add dry ingredients to creamy mixture and blend well.
  4. Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  5. Mix together the 3 tablespoons sugar with cinnamon.
  6. Remove dough from refrigerator and measure out into 1” balls using a rounded tablespoon.
  7. Coat the balls with the sugar/cinnamon mixture and place 2 “apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.  Cookies can be flattened using a round glass surface if desired.
  8. Bake cookies for 10 minutes then remove oven.
  9. Transfer cookies from cookie sheets to wired rack quickly.
